Grazing Meadows Wagyu can now take their grazing and marketing mentorship indoors

DONNA AND TIM PRIOR have finally built the barn they’ve always wanted, and it’s designed to make their work easy enough they can farm for another 20 years.

“It’s for aging in place,” Prior agrees, as he walks through the barn, demonstrating how every gate has been thought through, and installed to make penning and processing cattle easy, efficient, and safe for the operator and the cattle.

Tim and Donna Prior held an open house on November 6 to show their cattle comfort and low-stress facility near Brussels

Tim and Donna Prior have been raising Wagyu cattle outside and in an old bank barn for over 25 years but wanting to make handling cattle easier for themselves and the herd, they added a new addition to to the barn.

The new barn expansion was built with cow comfort and low-stress in mind. The day after the open house, they processed the herd for dehorning, worming and banding and were amazed at the time savings.

The Wagyu breed is Japan’s national treasure believes entrepreneur, Tim Prior, who is creating a fullblood herd at his Brussels farm, Grazing Meadows

The nightly ritual for working Wagyu cattle in Japan is massage, followed by dose of beer. This, it is said, is what creates the marbled meat this working breed is known for.

While Tim Prior has fed beer to his Wagyu steers as part of a marketing campaign, he has never massaged his cattle and yet his Grazing Meadows Wagyu cattle raised outside of Brussels, Ontario still produce meat so marbled, a prime rib steak sells in restaurants for over $150 a plate.

Our cattle are now “ EU Certified” by vet and CFIA

Recently, Donna and I had the opportunity to host some guests from Dubai and Ontario Corn Fed Beef. We had a chance to show off our operation and our fantastic Wagyu cattle.

Later, with the help of chef Alex Lussier from Cowbell Kitchen, everyone enjoyed some delicious Wagyu.
